Mathews Elementary School is gearing up for exciting changes! In August 2024, the school's landscape underwent a transformation to make room for a brand new gymnasium, which is slated to be finished in time for the start of the 2025-2026 school year. As part of this development, the playground currently situated at Mathews Elementary will be removed. Despite this temporary inconvenience, rest assured that plans are in place to ensure that our students' need for outdoor play remains a top priority.

Once the gymnasium construction is complete, we envision constructing two new inclusive playgrounds at Mathews Elementary School, designed to meet the needs of our elementary students in grades K-5. One playground will cater to students in grades K-2, while the other will be tailored for students in grades 3-5. These playgrounds will be thoughtfully equipped with age-appropriate equipment and safety features to ensure that every child can engage in safe and enjoyable outdoor play.

The HERD Foundation, with the support of the Mathews Local School District, is leading the fundraising effort to bring a playground to students at Mathews Elementary School.
